Ceiling Colors

Q. Do color ceilings make the height of the room seem lower?

We have always had white ceilings but we have tall rooms. Now I see ceilings painted the same color as the walls.

What do you think? Thank you.

A. When you put color or a wood molding on your ceilings it actually seems to push the sidewalls out making the space feel larger.

A dark ceiling adds warmth and charm to a space. If you have darker walls and a white ceiling, especially in a small room like a bath, you have the sensation of being pulled up and out of the space.

Ceilings are a wonderful opportunity to do something special --- like wall paper! Go for it and have fun!
