Engine Light

Q. My Check Engine light went on and I am very concerned, but I don't really have the money for a major repair. So instead I have the car parked in the driveway. What can I expect?

A. Both the "Service Engine Soon" light and the "Check Engine" light can be very scary and should not be ignored. However, they are not always a sign of a big or expensive problem.

If the light goes on and stays on, it simply means that something needs to be checked. It can be as simple as a taillight that's out to a gas cap that wasn't put back on properly.

If the light is flashing you really need to take your car in as soon as possible.
