The Irish American
Archives Society

The Irish American Archives Society (IAAS) is a Cleveland based non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and is housed at the Western Reserve Historical Society. The mission of the IAAS is as follows:

"... to support collection and preservation of papers, photographs, oral histories, memorabilia and other materials of individuals and families of Irish descent and of the records of businesses and organizations that have influenced development of the Irish American community in northeast Ohio."

It is the goal of the IAAS to preserve the heritage of Cleveland's Irish population. The group employs Regina Costello, a professional archivist, to carry out this daunting task.

The organization was first founded in 1994 by the late Professor Thomas F. Campbell of Cleveland State University. Since then, an impressive list of board members has run the organization. Currently, the Chairman of the Board and President of the Association is Jerry Sheehan.

Donations of Irish photographs, documents and memorabilia that "illustrate the impact of the Irish American community in Northeast Ohio" are always welcome. Contact Regina Costello for information. ((216) 721-5722 ext. 326.
