The 2011 Great Big Home & Garden Expo Presented by Time Warner Cable will offer inspiring exhibitors, celebrities and special features to Northeast Ohioans when it is held at Cleveland’s I-X Center Feb. 5-13. Appearances by popular home and garden personalities, new features and returning attractions from the 2010 show are among the many highlights.
“Our attendees are passionate about their homes and we’re sure that after experiencing our breathtaking Garden Showcase, beautiful custom-built Idea Home and creative Celebrity Designer Rooms, they’ll walk away with many new ideas,” said Rosanna Hrabnicky, show manager with Marketplace Events, the show’s producer. “We’ve even expanded the show floor to offer more choices for attendees interested in a variety of products and services.”
Celebrities Shine on the Cleveland.com Main Stage
John Gidding, architect, interior designer and host of HGTV’s popular “Curb Appeal: The Block” is scheduled to appear on the Cleveland.com Main Stage Feb. 5 and 6. As owner of the New York City-based John Gidding Design Inc., Gidding has worked on residential and institutional architecture and landscape and urban design projects across the world. Matt Fox and Shari Hiller, best known for creating and hosting the first and longest-running show to air on HGTV, “Room by Room,” will provide home and garden tips and trends on the Main Stage throughout the show. Their “Great Weekend Projects” presentation will provide ideas for simple, easy and money-saving projects that anyone can do in a weekend. P. Allen Smith, award-winning garden designer and author, as well as popular television show host of “P. Allen Smith Gardens,” broadcast on commercial networks, and “P. Allen Smith's Garden Home,” airing on PBS member stations, will make Main Stage appearances on Feb. 12. Smith's best-selling works and his website, pallensmith.com, encourage people to enjoy the pleasures and rewards of gardening.
Mariel Hemingway will make Main Stage appearances sponsored by Cambria on Friday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 12 at noon. An autograph session in Club Cambria will follow each appearance. This new attraction includes ten custom-designed rooms, each created by the partnership of a local celebrity and Northeast Ohio-based interior design business or exhibitor. Explore rooms designed by pairings of Nancy Alden from WDOK-FM and Arcadia Glass House; musician Jim Brickman and Timan Custom Windows; Wayne Dawson from WJW-TV and Home Depot; Lee Jordan from WEWS-TV and Andreas Furniture; Roxanne Washington, Inside & Out Reporter of The Plain Dealer, and designer DesAnn Collins; Jimmy Malone from WMJI-FM and Justice & Company; Stefanie Paganini from the Loretta Paganini School of Cooking and Freedom Design; Romona Robinson from WKYC-TV and Lee Meier Interiors; and Jen Toohey from WQAL-FM and Trot Home.
