Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus

Baldwin Wallace Menís Chorus (Berea OH)

The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus was founded in 1991 to help raise awareness of choral music-making in the schools of northeastern Ohio and to encourage students to continue their choral activities through college and into adulthood. The 100 members of the Youth Chorus are in grades 9 to 12, representing 40 schools and communities in Northeast Ohio.

The Baldwin Wallace Menís Chorus includes students from the Conservatory of Music, students, faculty, and staff from Baldwin Wallace College, as well as members of the surrounding communities.

Under the direction of guest conductor Scott Metcalfe, Quire Cleveland explores the rich heritage of German choral music, from sacred songs and polyphony by Renaissance masters, to thrilling baroque works by SchŁtz, Pachelbel, and Bach.

Church Choir Festival

Cosponsored by WCLV, and The Cathedral of St John.

Broadcast live over WCLV FM104.9

The final rounds of the fourth annual WCLV JUBILATION Church Choir Festival, featuring 6 finalist Church Choirs from Northeast Ohio, will be broadcast live over WCLV FM104.9. The Festival/competition open to all church choirs in Northeast Ohio offers a grand prize of $1000 to the winning choir.

The goal of the competition is excellence in choral singing and diversity in styles. Repertoire includes not only western sacred classical music but also the tradition of gospel and other genres. Choirs will be judged on their expression, accuracy, technical ability, musicality and work as an ensemble.
