Chocolat
by Joanne Harris

For those of you looking for a book to take you from the depths of winter to the rebirth of spring may I recommend the novel Chocalat by author Joanne Harris.

This novel was the basis for the popular movie out last year by the same name. Although the movie garnered rave reviews, to not read the novel is to order the non-fat decaf chocolate mocha with no whip cream when you can have the full rich multi layered experience.

The novel takes place from February 11th to Easter Monday, March 31st and follows mystic Vianne Rocher as she transforms a small town draped in the gloom of winter into the fluries of spring.

While Vianne runs a chocolate shop, she deals with ghosts of her past and present and works to put them all to rest.

Chocolat is mystical, inspirational and absolutely delicious as it takes the forbidden and simply asks why.
