Jackie and Lou (Groza) lived in Berea ..they are Ohioians

Jim Brown has the best stats but his character is not to be admired.

Do you think Congress should be involved in the Roger Clemens (and other baseball players) steroid usage?

Yes - 1%

No - 99%

Sample Comments

Are you telling me that with all the problems in the world, the US Congress has to waste time and money on this?

Let baseball police itself. This is not a Congressional concern.

I bet the NFL and NBA are even worse.

With our growing Hispanic population, should public signs and documents be in Spanish as well as English?

Yes - 2%

No - 98%

Sample Comments

NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!! This is the USA... our language is English. Printing in Spanish is a slap in the face to all the immigrants in later 1800's and in the 1900's who came here and struggled to learn English.

I think that everyone who lives here should be able to speak and read our language but American need to also learn other languages

Only English signs. If you live here and enjoy our country then learn the language. If we do Spanish then how about signs in Italian, Slavic, French, Japanese and Chinese?

If they go to school & learn our language there would be no use for it

Valuable information and knowledge could be acquired while this population acquires English. Knowledge in any language is a powerful tool - valuable in all aspects of life. However, English is and should be the official language of our nation, and if people wish to come here they must learn to read and write the language of our land - English!

This is America. In America we speak and read English. Would you like to be in a foxhole in a war with someone who can't speak English?

If this is your home, learn English

No!! Keep the United States its polyglot self. English only.

Who would you like to see get the Republican nomination for President

John McCain - 22%

Mitt Romney - 21%

Mike Huckabee - 19%

Rudy Giuliani - 16%

Fred Thompson - 16%

Ron Paul - 4%

Whoever will close the borders!!!

I switched from Rudi to Fred Thompson after the South Carolina debate

Who would you like to see get the Democratic nomination for President

Joe Biden - 35%

Barack Obama - 18%

None of the Above - 17%

Hillary Clinton - 11%

Bill Richardson - 11%

John Edwards - 6%

Others - 2%

Sample Comments

Joe Biden - I like his plans!

Although many people try very hard to dislike the Clintons, they are the most seasoned couple to take over this "mess" that has been created.I would vote for Dennis but he is too honest and would not live to see the end of his presidency. The same for Barack. He has integrity and honesty on his side and not seasoned enough for the job!

I'm a registered Democrat, and frankly, all of them scare the heck out of me.

Anyone would be better than Hilary Clinton!

Should Senator Larry Craig resign from the U.S. Senate?

Yes - 64%

No - 36%

Sample Comments

He can't keep his story straight.

He is a pompus hypocrite.

It all could have been a mistake but why did he plead guilty?

Should Atlanta Falcons Quarterback Michael Vick be banned from the NFL for his dog fighting operation?

Yes - 77%

No - 23%

Sample Comments

This is cruelty to animals, not a sport. It makes no difference who you are, any life is important & needs to be respected. He should not only be banned, but fined & possibly jailed for cruelty to animals. Doesn't he make enough money without abusing & betting on the outcome of a dog fight!

Why wait for a trial? If a DA says he's guilty... he's guilty! Just ask the Duke LaCrosse team. Who needs a trial when we have PETA and the Press?

When someone is in the public eye they are held to a higher standard. I expect more for myself and certainly more from a public figure than what I have seen.

He makes enough money playing football & seems pretty greedy that he has do do this terrible thing with dogs. He is not setting a good example at all & should be banned from football. His IQ must be very low.

Suspended yes, banned no. Criminally indicting him before he is found guilty is wrong. Now if he does prison time, thats enough of a ban... Let's not get carried away with it.

A global organization asked people to vote on the new Seven Wonders of the World.

The 7 New Wonders of the World as determined by the voters are:

    The Great Wall of China,

    Petra in Jordan,

Christ the Redeemer Statue in Brazil,

    Machu Picchu in Peru,

    The Roman Coliseum,

    The Taj Mahal

    Chichén Itzá in Mexico.

Notable wonders that did not make the cut include: The Acropolis, the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, Stonehenge, the Sydney Opera House, Pyramids of Giza and the Statues of Easter Island.

What do you think of the results?

Good Choices - 19%

Bad Choices - 81%

Sample Comments

How could they not include the Eiffel Tower or the Statue of Liberty?

I think the Pyramids should have stayed on.

Except for the Christ the Redeemer Statue, they are worthy. I would have chosen Stonehenge instead. The Pyramids are already one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, so they won't go away soon.....joke

I never heard of Petra or Chichen Itza - the vote seemed skewed against the West

Would you vote for a Mormon (not necessarily Mitt Romney) for President?

No - 73%

Yes - 27%

Sample Comments

One First Lady is enough.

I fear a Mormon president more than I fear a Catholic one. I think their religious affiliation would have too much bearing on their Presidency.

People worried about John F. Kennedy being Catholic - we could have done a lot worse than him!

I think a Mormon would be OK but I think we would be targets for terror if a Jewish person was elected. Sorry Joe Lieberman.

Does the Virginia Tech shooting make you more in favor of gun control?

Yes, more in favor - 38%

No, was already against - 32%

No, was already in favor - 15%

No, less in favor - 15%

Sample Comments

Handguns are designed to kill people. Only police need them.

A gun is only as dangerous as how the person uses it. A person holding and using a gun is more dangerous than a gun sitting on a table.

It's too easy to kill someone with a gun.

If other students had been carrying legal firearms, perhaps this tragedy could have been lessened.

Should Don Imus have been fired?

No - 71%

Yes - 29%

Sample Comments

Even though many disagree with what he said, our constitution protects free speech; not only speech we agree with, but ALL speech.

The man's an idiot and he said something stupid. Get over it.

Why is wrong for him to do it, when others say the same thing and call it "art"?

He mis-fired a funny

He's a blatant racist...a lot of people consider racism offensive to the point that they wouldn't want a racist to serve as their agent in business. Would you?

He's just telling it like he sees them but should not have said it aloud.

He apologized. Come on there are many more important things in this word to consider, the war, national health care, the economy, global warming, illegal immigrants. How will firing Imus change the status of race relations in this country? It won't. Get off it and on to more important issues.

He should have been fired long ago. Freedom of speech has some responsiblity connected to it. To spew hurtful, hateful comments is irresponsible. As I said, he should have been gone years ago.

He reminds me of Gary Dee

He has nothing than a foul mouth.

Why wasn't Jesse Jackson fired for his "Hymietown" comments and Al Sharpton for lying about Tawana Bradley? There seems to be double standards at work.

What do you think of the Anna Nicole Smith media coverage?

Far too much coverage of her death - 93%

She's an interesting figure so the coverage is warranted - 7%

Sample Comments

I'm sorry to hear of her death, but enough is enough already, the media is dragging this out too far and it's getting old.

I actually enjoy watching about it (this is anonymous, right?) She is an interesting character and the story is like a novel

I think they've had more coverage than when Reagan died. What a shame the public is addicted to celebrities when there is so much more important stuff out there.

With so many worthy stories to cover, ie., wars, heroes, plagues, devastation, good deeds, bad guys and the gamut of worldly news, it is a poor choice by both media and people who wish to gawk at the small blip of this poor-little-rich-girl's life and death.

She was nothing more than a cheap slut in life, and was glamorized in death.

Consumer Reports tests showed McDonald's coffee is best. Which do you prefer?

The Game - 64%
The Commercials - 32%
Other - 4%

Sample Comments

I think it's ludicrous that the media even brought up the race of the 2 coaches.

Half time show if the artists are good - no rap or heavvy metal

Can't beleive we are still so racist in this country. Would it be ever asked about two Italian or Greek coaches. Or how about even the if they were from a mix of any kind(WHITE-BLACK-YELLOW-RED OR GREEN STRIPES!!!!!!!

Who's side are you on in "the feud"
- Rosie O'Donnell or Donald Trump?

Donald Trump - 82%
Rosie O'Donnell - 18%

Sample Comments

It is time that Rosie experiences consequences for her false statements.

Neither are very likeable people but Trump seems more honest

Rosie needed the publicity more than Trump

Do you view the Seinfeld show differently after Kramer's (Michael Richards) racist rant?

Yes - 50%
No - 50%

Sample Comments

I was an avid fan. I watched it repeatedly. Now I never watch. I just can't. Kramer makes me sick!

We shouldn't assume that the characters in a medium match the character of an actor or actress. However, we do. I am disappointed in Mr. Gibson and Mr. Richards. In vino veritas...sometimes we say in anger or in drink what we have had on our minds in the first place. Shame on them.

He is still as funny as all get out. I was surprised of his outburst but sometimes people lose it. I wasn't there to witness it or know what was going on with him at the time.

Has head coach Romeo Crennel lost control of the Cleveland Browns?

My one vote will not matter

Do you believe in Global Warming?

Yes - 42%

No - 58%

Sample Comments

It's a fact. It's what our abuse of nature has done.

Poles are shrinking, snow on snow capped mountains are shrinking, increasing temp of oceans

Not unless it started centuries ago

The question should really be: Is man causing global warming?

Are you more likely to watch CBS News because Katie Couric is the anchor?

Yes - 2%
No - 98%

Sample Comments

I just watch local news, that's enough for me

Should the penny (one cent coin)
be discontinued?

Split right down the middle!
Yes - 50%
No - 50%

Sample Comments

Yes - Because it costs more to produce and is hardly worth carrying it as change.

No - I feel that it is just another way to increase the price of goods and services.

Yes because of cost factor. No because the merchants will make everything 1.10 instead of .99

It's just a fun coin

They're a major pain in the butt!!

We've tolerated deficit spending by our government at all levels. Let's not get into deficit production costs too. Dump the penny!

Mostly because "A nickel for your thoughts" just doesn't sound right, and besides, most people's thoughts are not worth a nickel. What we should do is change the design, put some worthless politician's likeness on it (take your pick, there are plenty of candidates). But it is inevitable that it will go away because it represents so little value these days. 50 years from now we'll have the same discussion, but it will be about the nickel, or maybe by that time it will be about any type of hard currency 'cause no one will be using it any more.

Change it to 2 cents

It is like lint on newly washed clothes. It hangs around and it is hard to get rid of.

I save pennys. And that is the only way I can save any money.Hope to leave them to my Grand children . That is all that I can afford to leave them right now

At 63 years of age, why change now! Would you get rid of the Lincoln Memorial?

Use more of the copper from Arizona to bring down the cost to mfg the penny

New Zealand & Australia did this years ago & it works beautifully. Products are rounded mostly to your advantage & you don't have all that small coin because their smallest bill is a $5.

Should the Ohio Minimum Wage be raised?

Yes - 39%
No - 61%

Sample Comments

It is not a livable wage where it is now.

People need to eat.

That would cause businesses to close and then you have a job paying ZERO

Who was the best First Lady? (1933-1988)

Eleanor Roosevelt - 50%
Nancy Reagan - 19%
Jacqeline Kennedy - 14%
Pat Nixon - 11%
Rosalyn Carter - 6%

Sample Comments

Pat Nixon had class and was absolutely skewered in the press, with among other names, Plastic Pat. You could see it hurt her deeply, but she was always gracious.

Dignity and knowledge filled this lady. (Eleanor Roosevelt)

Her Grace, talent, parenting and support of the President (Jacqeline Kennedy)

Just plain classy (Jacqeline Kennedy)

Quiet humanitarian (Rosalyn Carter)

She managed to be elegant and a lady in difficult times. She did not lose her cool when the rest of the world was losing . . . lots. (Pat Nixon)

Nancy Reagan was quietly supportive in a classy way. She knew it wasn't all about her.

Are you at all concerned about June 6, 2006
- 6-6-6

It's unanimous. Good for you!

Yes - 0%

No - 100%

Sample Comments

Every day is an event in the world, good or bad. We have to deal with it one way or another and continue.

Nothing bad happened on June 6, 1006 so why should it happen in 2006?

Just another kookie notion that they love to talk about on the news

Now that the Cavs lost to Detroit in 7 games, who do you want to win the NBA East?

Miami - 78%

Detroit - 22%

Sample Comments

The Cavs should have beat Detroit so I am rooting against them

I just can't stand Rasheed Wallace

If Detroit wins it looks better for the Cavs to have played them so well.

If available, would you get a bird flu vaccination?

Yes - 81%

No - 19%

Sample Comments

Of course, if it prevents the flu

I lined up for swine flu and other vaccines and the government messed it up. I won't be first in line again.

Hopefully they will have a shot soon and I will be there to get it.

What do you think of Residency Laws? For example, should a police officer have to live in the city in which he serves?

Yes - 37%

No - 63%

Sample Comments

If the City is good enough for a paycheck, then it should be good enough to reside within.

I feel as with any other position or job as long as you perform the job you were hired for, it should not matter where you sleep

It is not fair to take a person's rights to choose where to live.

Being a resident of a city doesn't make you a better employee, nor does being a non resident make you a worse employee. Residency laws were set up to provide protection int he event of a disaster. With mutual aid pacts, that's no longer needed. Also, just because I'm a resident doesn't mean I'm going to be in the city on my off time, which negates the "quick response" argument of making city employees reside in their employment city.

Residency limits the 'pool' and non-residence may help eliminate some of the possibility of corruption and bring fresh 'vigor' to the job

As long as they are within 10 miles of station

Do you drive an American car?

No - 45%

Yes - only drive American - 33%

Yes but have had foreign cars - 22%

Sample Comments

American cars lack quality and accumulate too much repair time. My Toyota and Honda just need gas and oil and that's it.

Foreign cars are more reliable

We only drive American cars because we care about our country and the American auto industry

In 1991 I discovered Toyota. It always worked, never rattled, always felt secure. I kept it for ten years, then bought another one.

I have a (Chevy) Cavalier 11 years old repaired twice, alternator and starter. Durability

I am in business and I believe it conveys to my clients that I buy American.

Scion xb. It's a reasonably priced, high mileage vehicle with all the amenities and it's easy for the elderly to get into!

American cars are not as good a value and do not offer the combination of superior reliability and safety.

While foreigners have set a very high standard, and actually showed us Americans how to build a better machine, we took the hint, and our Autos are just as good if not better than theirs.Only one problem. American cars aren't made entirely in America any more. That's a really pity.

We showed the world how to become better. We gave it miraculous inventions which they have taken and expounded upon. We have helped our whole world turn around and learn how to become better. Now, with our most confusing so called "world economy" its a really confusing issue as to what to buy.

The following web site will help us Americans.http://www.howtobuyamerican.com/

American cars will always be my choice even though they are diluted and not exclusively American any more. Is America having a going out of business sale lately? With the New York ports and I understand a state has its turnpike for sale? Can't we take care of our own?

Did the Washington Press Corps make too big a deal about the Dick Cheney hunting accident?

Yes, they were informed in plenty of time - 76%

No, he is the Vice-President and it was news - 24%

Sample Comments

I loved the one comment from a woman on a TV news program:You mean he can't tell the difference between a quail and an ORANGE VEST?

The American people didn't care about it. They realize accidents happen. But the press think they are gods

The media was informed within 12 hours - for a non-fatal hunting accident that had nothing to do with national security. What's their problem?

This shows how out-of-touch the media "elite" really are. Would they have reacted the same if Gore did this?

Sample Comments

I miss the old anchors like Huntley and Brinkley, Walter Cronkite and those icons.

So much "news" is just celebrity gossip and shock value anymore - TV is worthless.

CNN is too liberal and Fox is too conservative. Is there no middle ground?

Should proven steroid users be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame?

Yes - 4%

No - 96%

Sample Comments

It should be man's ability not dependability

The Hall of Fame (and records) should be reserved for those who achieved them - not for those who cheated

Even without the freakish growth of a Barry Bonds, streroid use allowed average players like Palmiero to play longer and eventually accumulate great stats. But he didn't do it - the drugs did.

Roger Maris should get his record restored too

How would you rate the rescue response for Hurricane Katrina?

Too Slow - Should have done more sooner - 28%

About what could be expected for such a huge disaster - 72%

Sample Comments

Federal response good city and state bad

Human Lives were at stake. Not Political agendas. There has always been and will always be humans that need to be taken care of by the more fortunate people. We all are not rich or all not poor, but in time of Mother nature's wrath we must work together. Each of us must stop for a moment and ask ourselfs, what if I was in such a disaster, how would I react? When help is needed it is needed now, not later, while Politicians pass the buck from one to another. Famous words one other time in History, " The Buck stops here ! If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen."

The volunteer agencies, individual volunteers and even the federal government came through. It was the state and local pols that blew it

We saw the best of people - and the worst of people - in this disaster.

Would you vote for Jerry Springer for statewide office?

Yes - 12%

No - 88%

Sample Comments

Being famous (or infamous) does not qualify one for elected office. Seems to me he represents all the wrong ethics.

We would be the laughingstock of the nation.

Can he be any worse than Taft?

He is a money-grubbing opportunist who preys on the worst of our society to fill his pockets. And now he wants to be taken seriously? Forget it.

Governor Taft plead "No Contest" to 4 misdemeanors regarding ethic violations for not reporting gifts such as golf outings and dinners. Should he resign?

Yes - 66%

No - 34%

Sample Comments

What he did was not the worst crime in the world. However he is the one who set this as a condition for terminating (or encouraging the resignation) other state employees. He needs to be held to the standards he set for others.

If every politician guilty of not reporting gifts exceeding $75.00 was to resign, it would be anarchy. He should pay it all back perhaps double to cover the yet undetected.

Follow the money! Who paid the reimbursements recently disclosed? If it came from State funds rather than Taft's personal account, there are possible criminal charges. Also, who is paying for the lawyer representing Taft in this matter?

Only if every person convicted of a misdemeanor resigns from whatever board or executive jobs they have. Come on, the calls for his resignation are merely thinly disguised attempts by liberal Democrats to beat someone they couldn't beat at the polls. Of course, it would be a lot easier to defend the dull governor if he were actually a good governor.

Who was your favorite talk show host?

This wasn't even close. Steve Allen, Joey Bishop, Dick Cavett, Merv Griffin and Jack Paar combined didn't come close to Johnny Carson's total

Just as you pay more for extra luggage, some airlines are considering charging people for their excess weight. Should overweight passengers pay more for their airline tickets?

Yes- 58%

No - 42%

Sample Comments

Yes - If skinny ones like me are allowed to pay less.

Yes, if they go into someone else's space but only if people with children (babies) also have to pay when they go into other's space.

Ah, the overweight. The last acceptable prejudice.

Should women in the armed forces serve in combat situations the same as men?

Yes- 77%

No - 23%

Sample Comments

Women have claimed for years they want to be treated as equal to men. Well, this is their chance to prove that they're serious.

I have a daughter in the Army and as we questioned "would a flying enemy bullet miss me just because I'm a woman?" Noooo.. then why should we not be given the same duty as a male soldier?

If they enjoy our country and our freedom, then they can also fight to insure its security.

They're either equal or not equal--can't have it both ways

The City of Cleveland plans on installing 28 cameras at various locations that will take a picture of violators cars and mail them a $100 or $200 ticket. What do you think?

Just because he is different and sensitive, people try to make him into a monster

I wouldn't let my grandchildren anywhere near him

Jurors will want to be famous and write books so they will let him go.

I feel sorry for his own children

Nobody knows what is going on in someone else's mind.

Should Children go to School year round?

Yes - 72%

No - 28%

Sample Comments

Yes - They are no longer needed to work on the farm - that is why it was originally set up this way.

Yes - Children should go to school year round because it allows them the opportunity to get better educated, gets them off the streets in the summer, saves parents money in summer camp and day care.

No - They need a brake and parents need one. So do we. We would drive the teachers crazy they would quit because we are so bad

Yes - It simplifies child care - working parents scramble to find someone when school is out.

No - Some kids work, others go on family vacations.

Yes - Every other country in the world educates their children year round. Ours are let loose for mon ths and we wonder why we have fallen behind?

Was there too much media coverage of the Pope's death and funeral last week?

Yes - 49%

No - 51%

Sample Comments

Yes - Most of the information and coverage was redundant, superfluous.

Yes - He's is dead so why can't we just put him in the ground and move on. I have trouble understanding the Catholics. The by majority do not agree with most issues that the Pope dealt with. Why now do they feel that they should support his views in his demise?

No - He was a world leader through 4 presidents and for a change we were reminded of what a good person is like rather then having to have a constant barrage of misfits and dopers.

No - It's good for Americans to see that there is a "rest of the world " out there and that we aren't the only people that matter. There's over 1 billion Catholics in the world yet the 80 million loudmouths in America think they should run the Church.

No - I am not Catholic but he was a great man for all people of the world.

No - it was good to see

No - He is the Vicar of Christ for one. Two, have you seen the competition?

Should the feeding tube be reinserted for Terri Schiavo?

Yes - 24%

No - 76%

Sample Comments

She made her wishes known to her husband, and should have them followed. Not only that, neither her parents, legislators, or any of the other bleeding heart liberal protesters have any legal standing in this. Her husband is her legal next of kin, so only he has the right to make this decision.

I think it's time to let go, she has been suffering in a state that has not changed for fifteen years. I do not believe that a person should be forced to be alive if it is by artificial means. Her husband has given all he has and has the right to say it's enough. Her parents need to back off ,they are making her live in a way I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I only pray that they allow her to take her place with our Lord.

She made her wishes known to her husband, who is her legal guardian, and he only wants to carry them out. Watching her day after day with no quality of life is not fair to her. Her parents should spend what time she has left in telling her how much they love her and its okay to leave. I have been in that situation, its not easy, but it is humane.

President Bush and his Brother shouldn't have got into it at all. Just let her go in Peace.

It's wonderful how much her parents care, but she died along time ago. The politicians are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves. They only got involved at the end for their own goals and objectives. They gave out false hope.

She is at peace now. Let her bum of a husband marry the other woman now. She better be careful though - she could be next.

1) Michael Schiavo didn't reveal that his wife had said she wouldn't want to be maintained in her current condition until seven years after she became brain-damaged. 2) Terri Schiavo never received the necessary tests to prove that she's actually in a permanent vegetative state, e.g., an MRI and PET scan. 3) Terri Schiavo's nurses and family claim that she is capable of taking food by mouth. She is forbidden to do so by Michael Schiavo. 4) Starvation and dehydration is a cruel and painful way to die. 5) Terri Schiavo shouldn't be forced to die until the federal courts determine whether her due process rights were protected. There's evidence to suggest that they were not.

Dr. William Chesire, a board-certified neurologist who has examined Terri Schiavo, released an affidavit on March 23 stating: "I believe that, within a reasonable degree of medical certainty, there is a greater likelihood that Terri is in a minimally conscious state than a persistent vegetative state. [...] If Terri is sufficiently aware of her surroundings that she can feel pleasure and suffer, if she is capable of understanding to some degree how she is being treated, then in my judgment it would be wrong to bring about her death by withdrawing food and water." It is essential that Terri's feeding tube be reinserted so that her true state can be determined.

With over 1/2 the marriages ending in divorce and with Michael Schiavo living with and fathering 2 children with another woman, shouldn't the blood relatives have more say than the so-called "legal husband?" who only conveniently "remembered" her wishes after 7 years?

This is why votes on the definition of marriage are so important.

A proposed development, anchored by a Wal-Mart store had been planned for the Steelyard Commons site. Now it looks to be a dead deal - some say because of Cleveland City Council.

Should Wal-Mart have been welcomed to build in Cleveland?

Yes - 74%

No - 26%

Sample Comments

Cimperman should be ashamed of denying us a decent grocery store. From an Old Brooklyn Neighborhood resident of Cleveland

Just what Cleveland needs more slave wages for it's residents

This shows how short-sighted our city leaders are. Between inept leaders and the corrupt unions, this town will always be last in progress and first in poverty. MAKE OHIO A RIGHT-TO-WORK State!

Their wages to their employees are so low you need a microscope to see them. They give them a title (ASSOCIATE )but no livable wage to go with the title.....

They should be allowed because the shopping mall that would have been around it would bring money to Cleveland. I would also shop for their food there.

Any new development should be welcomed. Tax abatement on homes, but business is discouraged! What is wrong with this picture?? POLITICS at its worst!

The irony of asking Wal-Mart to be a part of this project just blows my mind. If it weren't for Wal-Mart, we wouldn't have lost so many of our manufacturing jobs to China. Wal-Mart (and a few other companies like it) are one of the reasons that land is empty now.

I dislike how Walmart's across our country have ruined small towns. I would like to see a Tops or Giant Eagle there. I live near Spring Rd. and this shopping center would be the answer. I now need to go to Parma at the Snow & Broadview Rd. shopping area.

We need stores like Walmart in Cleveland. For jobs to our city and places to shop.

It looks like Wal-Mart is trying to be a monopoly as it is...you could let them build or not, but eventually they will....and likewise they will also go bankrupt when they have built too many to close together.

We live in the city and right now have to drive many miles to get to stores like Wal-Mart. But out elitist politicians think they are so much smarter than the rest of us and are "protecting" us from big bad stores. So we still have to drive to the Heights for a Wal-Mart and Joe Cimperman can feel he's a big deal. What a shame. PS I live in Ward 13 - watch out Joe.

Did your city do a good job with snow removal from the storm?

Yes - 31%

No - 69%

Sample Comments

Garbage trucks could not pick up trash for 2 weeks in Euclid

This year was the worst in South Euclid.

Cleveland Heights rates an F- for their snow removal work on our street. For all the money we pay in taxes, it would be nice to see that they spent some of it on snow plows. They didn't plow our street for 2-3 days following the heavy snow just before Christmas, and the street turned into a frozen mess that was bumpier than a washboard. South Euclid, just 300 feet away, had our street plowed down to the pavement. Kudos to South Euclid -- I'm thinking to move there real soon -- at least I'll get my tax money's worth for service there.

What do you think of tips being added on to your bill automatically?

It's Fine - the only way to make sure cheap people tip hardworking servers - 22%

Not Fine - I should choose if and how much to tip - 78%

Sample Comments

I've had too many bad waitresses over the years to just reward them for their bad service. And when I do get really good service I tip generously for it .

Some people never tip enough so at least this way the server gets paid.

Why should they be allowed to add that in automatically? Raise the price if you need to and pay your people. Don't expect us to cover it.

I always liked Omar but this is a business and we need our young guys to start playing.

Do the Political Opinion of Celebrities
influence you?

Yes - they are in the know - 2%

No - being famous doesn't make you an expert on politics - 98%

Sample Comments

Yes. They are famous for a reason - maybe they know something that normal people don't.

Most of them are idiots who have no idea what they are talking about. Unfortunately, too many people are influenced by those who are good looking and/or have celebrity status in areas that have absolutely nothing to do with the person's areas of skill or knowledge. Also unfortunately, too many celebrities think that because they are good at sports or acting, their opinions automatically have value in areas they are ignorant about. If these people have any influence on me it is opposite of what they think it is.

Ohio Law allows you to buy fireworks as long as you sign an affidavit stating that you will not use them within State boundaries. What do you think of this law?

Get Rid of It - 91%

Let it Stand - 9%

Sample Comments

Amend it to include usage within the state.

There should be no fireworks sold in this state...period. Fire works should only be sold to professionals in this field...Period...

As with many laws passed by Ohio politicians, this was and is a ridiculous law. The lawmakers know that people will buy and use illegal fireworks if they chose, so why make them lie about it. Let's add a rider to the law outlaws use to also outlaw sales. I don't think Ohio is in such bad financial shape that it needs these revenues.

Perhaps we should legalize drugs as long as one promises to take them out of state! Think of all the sales tax revenue Ohio would reap!

Yes - 64%
No - 36%

Sample Comments

Yes, at Age 80.

Love it - Go Get 'em! - 56%
Hate it - Wouldn't watch it - 42%
Don't Care - 2%

Sample Comments

Love It

Long overdue! Pleased, that fine folks are willing to step up to the plate! Yeah!

How can we know what city hall is doing (good and bad)if the news media does not want to "step on any toes".

I think they are well within their rights to pursue a story when it comes to how it will affect the public at large. Jane Campbell is a public figure and that means she has little or no privacy.

Is nice to have some HONEST reporting and less "Rate improvement" reporting catering to special interests

As taxpayers and consumers we need someone on our side to ask the tough questions and Ch 19 does just that. Mayor Campbell and others, once elected, don't like to answer to those that pay their salaries. Lets hold their feet to the fire.

Hate It

Channel 19 should STOP harassing Mayor Campbell.

Similar to the European news jackals - some things are best left alone.

Let's go back to the days when the total newscast was just 15 minutes and that included sports. Bring back Tom Fields.

-- I think they should back down. I bet no person on that station could do a better job.

Don't Care

This is an example why I prefer to watch CNN news. Local news is awful.

Should there be gambling casinos in Ohio?

Yes - 79%
No - 21%

We received a very large number of votes on this issue.

Comments for casinos included:

"Casinos would bring some very badly needed revenue into the State."

"Why should we continue to allow the money to leave Ohio? There's so many casino's within an easy drive from Cleveland. We need to erect a casino to stop the money from leaving here."

"Why not? We have the lottery don't we?"

"Let's keep the gamblers' money here instead of in the surrounding states or Canada! Too much money is going elsewhere"

Comments against casinos included:

"Gambling hurts too many people and the only ones to gain long term are the operators and the government. The taxes collected are from monies lost. Money that would have been spent on other taxable things anyway and the spender would have something to show for it."

"I say "NO" unless you mean for the super-duper wealthy. There should be a high priced "Membership" to start-up with, and on-going "dues" to cover all costs to the city, and by city I mean DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, near the big hotels. Only Union wages to all the "support and service" employees. NO LOW-BALL wages for City-County only workers, and NO HIRING of non-citizens for these jobs. All of this of course is in addition to a heafty "rake-in" -- say 35% of gross income for the city/county coffers. Then, I might vote for it. "

Cedar Point eliminated the Seniors Discount for season passes. Now they are considering dropping the daily discount for Seniors 60 and over which would leave Seniors paying up to $14 more for a daily admission.

Would this affect your Cedar Point attendance?

I will not go to Cedar Point as much if they do that - 99%
I don't go there anyway- 1%
I will still go to Cedar Point as often - 0%

Write-in comments included:

At 60+ there are fewer rides we can enjoy due to health. Since we treat our children and grandchildren, it will become cost prohibitive!

I feel seniors should have a discount. Lord knows we have paid our fair share of high admission prices. Don't turn your back on us now that we are on fixed income. This is a yearly thing we do with our grandchildren BUT....... now no more.

A great place for grandparents to take the grandkids. They will probably spend the savings on the grandkids so Cedar Point wins. This is one of those win/win situations

I also believe there should be a discount for handicap people
