Prescription Drug Questions
answered by Pharmacist John Miller

Q. Can you tell me what RPh, on the prescription bottle stands for and also what EA, NC,and LB which follow stands for as well.

A. RPh stands for registered pharmacist. The initials are probably the initials of the pharmacist filling the prescription.

Q. I was diagnosed with insulin resistance 3 months ago. I was taking Glucophage XR, followed a low carb diet and exec rise 4-5 times a week.

When I first began taking the medication, I lost 10 pounds- I have 50 to go. I have a BMI of 32+. I have not lost anything for over a month. Is this the right drug?

A. First I would check with your doctor about the medication. The exercise is very good, keep that up.

Maybe having the doctor contact a Dietician for you to set up a meal plan.
