Specific Drug Questions
answered by Pharmacist John Miller

Q. Could my back pain be associated with Allegra?

A. Yes, back pain is a listed side effect with Allegra in about 3% of the population.

Q. Claritin used to work wonders for me. Is it possible that I built up an immunity?

A. The manufacturer does not list any tolerance build up to Claritin after chronic use. But in your case trying another antihistamine may work better for you.

Q. What is the difference between Prozac and Zoloft in terms of how they work and their side effects?

A. Both Zoloft and Prozac are in the same class of drugs called SSRI"s (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), therefore they do work in the same way.

The chemical make-up of the drugs are different so one may work better than the other for a particular individual. Headaches are seen in about 25% of people taking this drug.
