Q. I have taken coral calcium for 1 week and have developed ringing in my ears. Would this be from the calcium?
A.There are no side effects listed for calcium for ringing in the ears.
However this doesn't mean that you couldn't experience this, because everyone reacts to medication differently. Also, make sure you are only taking the recommended dose per day.
Q. My dog takes Eto-gesic for his arthritis and it seems to work very well. Why can't I take it?
A.Veterinary medications may not be up to the manufacturing standards of drugs used for human consumption. However, if you could tell me what the "active" ingredients of Eto-gesic are, I may be able to find you a similar drug product.

Q. I've been taking Zoloft for about 6 months. It says not to stop taking it suddenly, but I don't think I want to continue because it is not doing anything. What could happen if I just stop?
A.. Some antidepressants should not be stopped abruptly because adverse effects could occur.
There is nothing from the manufacturer that Zoloft could not be stopped, however the doctor should be consulted first before any medication is stopped.
Q. Can herbs, minerals, or vitamins interact negatively with prescription medication?
A.. Yes, some drug interactions have been reported with herbs and vitamin preparations and prescription drugs. However not many studies have been conducted because herbs are not regulated by the FDA.

- St. Johns wart and drugs such as Paxil or Prozac could cause hypotension
(decreased blood pressure), sweating, tachycardia (increased heart rate),
and muscle jerks.
