Can't Make a Decision
Answered by Kenneth G. Alexander

Q. I can not make a decision, no matter what. I weigh options, need to think about things, discuss with anybody who will listen and then finally take the plunge and 9 out of 10 times I make a mistake.

So of course next time around I don't want to add to that percentage so it gets worse. This applies to "what's for dinner" to "what car to buy" to major life issues.

Can you help me?

A. There are many ways to "learn to make a decision". Often times we learn best by our past experience, and the positive and negative consequences that accompany it.

It appears that your history has been more of a negative experience overall.

I might suggest you seek out the services of a career or occupational counselor, who are the most experienced in teaching people how to make a well-informed and healthy decision.
