Already Huge and Always Hungry
Answered by Kenneth G. Alexander

Q. I'm huge! Not overweight, not pleasantly plump - HUGE.

On top of being 6 foot tall (and female) I have been gaining pounds by the tens, not one at a time - and I know why. It's because all I do is eat.

But I don't know why I do that. Well, yes I do. I'm afraid if I don't eat NOW I will be hungry later, or there will be nothing left or I will not get another chance.

That's the part I don't get. Any ideas?

A. The "belief system" that you have developed re: food and hunger seems to have you in a vicious cycle.

The first thing to consider is to meet with a mental health professional (who specializes in eating disorders), to address your "irrational beliefs" about food.

Once you have accomplished this, meet with a dietician (or your physician) to plan a reasonable and healthy weight loss program.
