Pinkie Toes Curl In

Q. Over the last few years I have developed a condition where both of my "pinkie" toes have become curled inward.

When standing up, each rests on their (external) side (not straight) where the lateral-most part of the nail directly touches the floor. All my other toes are straight and make contact with the floor when standing up on their inferior sides while the pinkies do not.

At the present time I experience no pain from this condition, but I know in later years that that will no longer be true.

A. This condition is known as abductovarus fifth digit.

Custom orthotics provided to you by your Podiatrist can help to prevent further deformity by holding you feet in the correct position while walking.

See your Podiatrist concerning surgical options available.
