Irish American Club, East Side

In a building that once housed a Furniture Store, the Irish American Club, East Side is located at 227th and Lakeshore Blvd., next to the famous Lake Theatre.

IAC East Side

The Club, which was first founded in 1978 bought this property and moved to Euclid in 1982. It now boasts a membership of nearly 3500 members, approximately 45% of which live in Euclid.

From Lakeshore Blvd. there is only a sign telling you that you're in the right place because the entrance to the Club is from the back. It is there that you will find beautiful stonework reminiscent of Ireland itself. As you enter the Club you feel as if you are stepping onto a piece of the Auld Sod!

Some IAC paraders

The Club is home to numerous units who represent the club by marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Euclid Memorial Day Parade. There is a Ladies Drill Team, a Fife and Drum Corps, a Flag Corps, A Children's Pom-Pom Unit and a Bagpipe Band. In addition, the Club enters a float in both parades every year - and often takes home 1st place trophies!

The Club's Seniors group, The Golden Shamrocks, is composed of Club members age 55 and over. They are avid card players, but also have movies, guest speakers, pot luck lunches and seasonal parties. They meet once a week on Wednesday afternoons.

Also housed at the Irish American Club is its cultural arm, the Padraic Pearse Center and the Lonnie McCauley Memorial Library. The Library holds a voluminous collection of books, tapes, music and movies concerning Ireland and it's people.

The Padraic Pearse is responsible for providing Gaelic Lessons for all levels, a tremendous speaker series, Irish Dance lessons, Genealogy workshops, traditional Irish music and now even a Book Club!

The lower level of the Club houses a small party room, The Padraic Pearse Library and the Pub. The Pub is the center of many hearty discussions and of course Irish music and story telling.

The Club's newsletter, The Schanachie, is sent out once a month and always includes pictures and fun stories from the past month and highlights and information about upcoming events.

The Club can also be rented (to members only) for parties. The Phil Walsh Cabaret Room in the lower level is the perfect setting for groups of 150 or less. The upstairs hall easily holds 450 people, and still allows room for dancing.

Although the Irish American Club is a membership Club, non-members are welcome to attend many of their events. It's certainly worth a call to find out because there're so many fun things going on! (216-731-4003).
