Lady In The Water

The latest from the "Sixth Sense" director has Paul Giamatti as a building superintendent caught up in a mysterious bed time story. He tries to rescue a woman he thinks has drowned in a pool in one of his buildings but discovers instead that she is part of a bed time story.

She is trying to make her way home and her enemies are trying to keep her in our world. The story involved characters designated as a "guardian" "interpreter", "healer", "symbotist", "Guild" and a man with no secrets and witnesses. Again - somehow it all works out.

The young woman is played by Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of Ron Howard. When I first saw the coming attractions for this movie I thought it was going to be scary - but really it was only scary when they showed some beast of a creature.

You are on your own for this one. It will probably provide nightmares for kids - even at 13. You be the judge, but I can't recommend it.

Miami Vice

Very strong violence, foul language, intimate bedroom and bathroom scenes and more sexual content - you can almost see the same scenarios on TV. Same old stuff - two undercover FBI guys are after the drug lords. Shoot 'em up with guns that never run out of bullets.

It was fast moving. I like the original characters better. These guys just didn't interest me.

You, Me and Dupree

Sexual content, nudity, language and drug references plus a scene of Owen Wilson in a bean bag chair that was totally uncalled for and added nothing. They always have to put in some sleazy sexual stuff and ruin what could have been if not a good movie, at least a better one.

Wilson plays another crazy jerk in this uneven comedy with Kate Hudson and Matt Dillon. Wilson's Dupree creates havoc on the lives of his newly married friends when he moves into their homes and cases trouble and confusion.

Is there nothing new out there?????????

Talladega Nights - The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

This movie has crude and sexual humor, language, drug references and brief comic violence.

Will Ferrell did not let me down. I can't stand him and this movie is pure Will Ferrell, You talk about dumb and dumber - this is it. What they call comedy is just stupid, dumb stuff and kids talking to their parents and grandparents in a crude and rude manner. I see no humor in this. It is not done tastefully. What a waste of money to make and what a waste to buy a ticket to get in.

It's about car racing, love and friendship - all potentially good plots. But don't waste your money, even if you're a Will Ferrell fan. He outdid himself with stupid this time - and nobody in the audience was laughing.
